What ss-capture does

A tray-first Windows app. You never need to keep a big window open to capture.

Launcher

Small window from the tray or Start: Image, Video, Open library, Settings. Title bar is minimize and close only.

Screenshot overlay

Drag a region. Pen, line, arrow, highlight, text, rectangle, rounded, ellipse, triangle, diamond. Thickness and color. Move and resize shapes. Enter saves; Esc cancels. Toolbar flips above the box if there is no room below.

Screen recording

Drag only the part of the screen you want. Start, New, Full screen / 80% center, Cancel. Draw while recording so highlights are in the footage. Pause, resume, reset, stop. Esc cancels without hanging the UI.

Editing Area

Play the draft, add layers, lock the live Recording layer so captured marks stay put. Eye hides a layer. Group layers into folders. Timeline with filmstrip, extra tracks, drag clips in time or between tracks.

Split & trim

Split and Trim open a mark window: play the clip, add marks, set start and end, apply. Crop on the preview with corner handles; Enter fills the frame.

Text & color

After placing text you can click inside it, move the caret with arrows, and edit letters. Bold, italic, underline, align. Custom colors can be added to the plate and applied to selected text.

Library

Open SS shows local screenshots and recordings. Search, date filter, card or list. Preview images. Video preview player with play, skip, speed, next/prev. Reveal in folder.

Settings

Shortcuts, FPS, theme (live preview), notification corner, toolbar size, local port, retention. Storage: Local always. Google Drive optional. Cutcompress connect is Coming soon.
